Andy Serkis

An immensely talented character actor who is thus far best known for his performances as the CGI characters Gollum in "Lord of the Rings" and Kong in the the 2005 version of "King Kong" (both with director Peter Jackson). In both films, he provided the voice and movements for the CGI characters. His performances were so well-received that a debate was sparked in the film community on the legitmacy of CGI-assisted acting, as some felt that Sekis should have been nominated for an Academy-Award but thought he was not, for the mistaken reason that he did not appear in the film (which he did).
Serkis has since been busy with a number of other roles, including as Ian Brady in the BAFTA-nominated "Longford" (for which he was also nominated a Golden-Globe Award for Actor in a supporting roles in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television), Mr. Grin in film adaptation of Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider novel "Stormbreaker", Mr. Alley (assistant to Nikola Tesla) in Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige", and as the voice of Spike in Animated film "Flushed Away". His more recent and umpcoming turns include roles in "Extraordinary Rendition", "Sugarhouse", "Inkheart", "The Cottage" and HBO/BBC feature "Einstein and Eddington". Serkis is married to actress Lorrain Ashbourne with whom he has three children, Ruby, Sonny and Louis. They reside in North London.
