Juliette Binoche An immensely talented Academy-Award winning and Golden-Globe and BAFTA- nominated French actress who is best known for her performances in such classic films as "The English Patient", "Chocolat", the "Three Colors" trilogy, "Rendez-vous" and "Cache". In France, she is affectionately referred to as "La Binoche" and is considererd one of the country's best actresses and imports.Her career dates back to 1984 with supporting roles in such films as Jean-Luc Godard's "Je vous salue, Marie" and Jacques Doillon's "La Vie de Famille". Her roles during this time were mostly that of contemporary young women exploring their lives and their sexuality. It was with "Rendez-vous" in 1985 for which she was nominated for a Cesar Award for Best Actress that her career really catapulted. In 1986, she had another major success and Cesar nomination with "Mauvais Sang" as well as her first English-speaking role in the acclaimed film "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" which garnered her much praise. Since then her career has been coasting with success here and there in such classic films as the aforementioned above. Major milestones in all this include her Cesar-winning (finally) and Golden-Globe nominated performance for "Three Colors: Blue"; her Academy-Award winning performance in "The English Patient"-Best Supporting Actress; a European Film Award for Best Actress as well as an Academy Award and BAFTA nomination. Of her personal life, she has two children: Raphaël (born on September 2, 1993), whose father is André Halle, a professional scuba diver, and Hana (December 16, 1999), whose father is fellow French actor Benoît Magimel, with whom Binoche starred in the 1999 film "Children of the Century". She is currently romantically involved with Argentine writer/director Santiago Amigorena. As of July 2007, she is busy at work on "L'Heure D'été" by Olivier Assayas. Following that she will star in "Certified Copy" for Abbas Kiarostami and "The Other Man" for Richard Eyre opposite Liam Neeson.
