Maurice Benard An actor of Nicaraguan and Salvadoran ethnicity, Benard has thus far made his bones on television appearing in a number of soap operas, most notably, "All My Children" and "General Hospital". He has won particular acclaim for his latter performance as Michael "Sonny" Corinthos, Jr. on "General Hospital" winning a Daytime Emmy for his work in 2003(he's been on the show since 1993).In his personal life, Benard was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 22 and has since become a spokesperson for treatment of the disorder with Mental Health America. He is married to his wife Pauleen with whom he has three children: Cailey Sofia, Cassidy Rose and Joshua James. His cousin, Marvin Benard, play professional baseball. Back to Maurice Benards Index |
